The Constantia Waldorf Fair is back and, as always, promises to be a fun-filled day packed with activities, entertainment, food stalls and delicious things to drink.
The fair begins at 10am, with a parade by all the school children at 10.30am, followed by the traditional maypole dance at 11am. Other entertainment comes in the form of a stilt walker, jugglers and magicians, and live music performances (by students and other artists including Chloe Spreckley, Rosie Bruce of the Cameron Bruce Collective, and DJ Simon on the main stage).
Kids’ activities include candle-dipping, a matchbox castle, a kids’ market, dunk-the-teacher, a haunted house, Jeepers Creepers, afoofie slide, slacklining, face-painting, fishy fishy, dart tombola, henna tattoos, giant foosball, an apple orchard, pillow fights, sumo wrestling, table tennis, a pool table, and knife throwing.
BRING A BLANKET TO CHILL ON
This year’s fair takes place in and around the primary school, with the many trees providing ample shade. So bring a picnic blanket, find a spot to chill, and enjoy the live music and delicious food and drinks on offer, which include pancakes, samosas, boerewors rolls, burgers, quiche and salad, curry and rice, and much more.
And, if all the excitement tires you out, there’s a chill lounge where you can relax and listen to music, or browse the secondhand book sale, art exhibition, and arts and craft market. There’s even talk of a snake show…
The fair operates on a cash-only payment system, so be sure to bring enough with you!
