Cape Town City Ballet presents a double bill of dance with the “beautiful and romantic” Les Sylphides and dramatic Russian piece, The Firebird.
The exotic Firebird belongs in this sylvan setting, as she flits through the trees and the evil Kotschei weaves his spells on the forest creatures. Les Sylphides does not follow a narrative, but rather offers viewers a reverie of music and dance.
Come picnic in the park on a balmy summers evening and enjoy a wonderful night under the stars. The programme also features the classic Les Sylphides.
“With a drama resembling a Spanish telenovela, and a resounding Hitchcockesque soundtrack, The Firebird is steeped in tension, love and suspense.” Read Lauren Jullies’ review of The Firebird & Les Sylphides.
